HomeWrights was founded in 2002 in the Denver area as a way for homeowners to serve as their own general contractors yet still have access to cost-savings, qualified subcontractors, and the knowledge and expertise of an experienced home builder.

Since 2002 we’ve partnered in the construction of more than 130 new custom built homes and major remodeling projects. Approximately 90% of our home building projects represent new construction (on vacant lots or scrapers) with the other 10% being pop tops or home additions.

Over the years we’ve developed strategic partnerships with some of the best architects, designers, engineers, lenders, subcontractors, and suppliers in the home building industry. This allows us to give our clients top referrals as well as contractor pricing. By managing the project themselves (with HomeWrights support, input, and expertise every step of the way) our clients save thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars.   The result is more equity in the finished home and/or more upgrades and special features. Either way, by participating in our unique home building process, you’ll gain benefits that no traditional home builder in the Denver metro area can provide.

Bob Hinz & Mary Knowles, Custom Home Builders

Bob Hinz is a second generation Colorado custom home builder. For as long as he can remember, framing, plumbing, wiring, and the likes were typical dinner conversations. He holds a Denver General Contractor license and has an MBA. Bob has worked on all types of building projects in the Denver metro area and across Colorado, from simple remodels to pop-tops, additions to scrapeoffs, bungalows to mansions. He enjoys helping homeowners serve as their own custom home builders, assisting them as they navigate the construction process.

Mary Knowles has developed many of the systems that support HomeWrights clients in managing subcontractor agreements, tracking construction budgets, and anticipating project needs. She takes pride in ensuring that home building clients have easy access to pre-screened, top subcontractors and some of the best suppliers. With a Master’s degree in Management, Mary enjoys helping clients throughout the entire home building process, from the first day of a construction project to move-in day.
